Mary’s 3.5 Star Review

I’m a sucker for second chance romances. The synopsis immediately intrigued me. It had a dangerous appeal to it. I’ve read several of the author’s previous books, and new that this was one I needed to get my hands on. I wasn’t disappointed, and the unique story was one I fell in love with.

In the prologue we meet Bellamy who has witnessed a horrific crime. One that has put her life at risk. She is in the witness protection program, but that is a failure since it isn’t protecting her at all. She flees to a place from her past where she believes no one can find her. BearPaw Resort is where she spent the best two weeks with her father, met, and fell in love with Liam the owners son. When she arrives to this safe place she immediately runs into him, and before she knows it all her old feelings come to the surface. Suddenly her number one fear isn’t staying alive, but keeping her heart in tact. She obviously is unable to open up to him completely so that she doesn’t put his life in danger as well. Liam is smart, and knows she’s keeping a huge secret. Will danger find the both of them before he finds out what she’s been hiding?

I liked that this played out like a good romantic adventure movie. It was a fast paced and the minute these two meet again is when they become inseparable. I love a good second chance romance. They are my favorite trope. I felt like maybe things went too fast. I mean they didn’t seem to know one another that well in the first place, and I would of liked to see them get to know each other more. Not to say I didn’t love the book. I doubt I could ever unloved a Cambria Hebert book, but I would of enjoyed getting to know more about Bellamy and Liam, before everything hit the fan.

They fit great as a couple, and there was some slow burn that added to the chemistry coming off the pages. There were some sweet, and endearing flashbacks that played well into the story. It brought some missing parts to the story, yet still added to the mystery. I almost expected a twist, but was happy as to where the story lead us.

If you do enjoy a fast paced, romantic adventure, with a helping of steam then you will certainly want to pick this one up.
