Ryan’s Bed by Tijan

Title: Ryan’s Bed

Author: Tijan

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: January 22, 2018

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should’ve left…

I didn’t.
I didn’t jump out.
I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

Mary’s 4 Star Review

This one really went straight to my heart. It made me feel so many emotions, I didn’t think it was possible for one book to put me through so much. I’m not a huge fan of the angst, more times then not it just makes me sad. Which is the point, but while this one dealt with some pretty heavy issues as you can see from the synopsis it also was eye opening. So many different messages, and to experience one girls heartbreak as she experiences one of the worst moments in her young while discovering who she really is will take your breath away.

Mackenzie is the narrator of this story. She has just moved to a new town with her parents, win brother, and twin sister. Shortly after arriving, even before boxes are unpacked her twin, Willow commits suicide. Mackenzie and her brother are sent to stay at her father’s coworkers house where they met Ryan and his sister Peach earlier. Mackenzie mistakes Ryan’s room for his sister and crawls into his bed. They wake up together and Ryan feels for her. He doesn’t push her away, but does his best to comfort her. That is where their relationship begins and with every encounter becomes deeper. They begin to text over the summer and once school starts he takes her under his wing. Ryan becomes her rock and while her parents are dealing with their heartbreak as well become emotionally unavailable to her. Ryan is the only one there for her the way she needs him. They soon develop feelings for each other masked through grief, and while attending high school are thrown into a melting pot of adolescence. Can Ryan pick up Mackenzie’s broken pieces with out losing a piece of his heart in the process? Can she truly love through all her grief?

Ryan has to be one of my favorite Tijan characters. He is mature, smart, talented, and kind. He falls in love with his entire heart. Mackenzie was a tricky one to figure out. Her identity without her twin was blurred, and Ryan helped her discover who she was without her. It is a long journey with so many facets that you will have to pay attention to every written word. So many different characters play into the story that you will have to weave through them to get to the heart of what is the love story between Ryan and Mackenzie.

If Tijan is a go to author for you like me, you will love this one to its core. This one may have some triggers dealing with depression and teenage suicide, but it will leave you with so much more then a love story, it will leave you feeling and that’s what truly we want from a good book.
