They call him The Mute for a reason.
Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.
When he does, it’s with disdain.
When he does, his words aren’t meant for me.
When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis.
He is thirty-three.
I am eighteen.
He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.
I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.
He’s emotionally unavailable.
And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.
Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.
And yet, I can’t stay away.
A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.
And oh, what beautiful chaos it will be.

Mary’s 4 Star Review

Scandalous was nothing I expected, but so much more. I’ve become easily addicted to anything and everything by L.J. Shen. She outdoes herself with every single book she writes. This series though has blown me away. I’ve been patiently waiting for Trent’s book. He was such an enigma in the other books. He was so unlike the other characters I had to wonder what bonded these brooding alpha males together. Do I have a favorite? Like my children, I love each of them the same, but in entirely different ways. It would be impossible to choose since I have given them all a piece of my heart. The uniqueness of these four friends is why I love them all so much.

So this book is about Trent, the quiet and cool hot hole. You think he’s an open book, but he keeps everything he holds dear deep inside him. While reading I learned that he has the most to lose compared to the other characters. If you haven’t read the other books, stop right here. It’s kind of spoilerish and I’d hate to ruin the full experience of the Sinners Of Saint series. So, we know that Trent is a Dad and all because he had a romp in Vegas. The mother has abandoned their beautiful daughter, and Trent is trying to be the best father he can, but it’s not easy for him. Then we meet his pseudo partner/enemy’s daughter. She’s young, eighteen, but shares the same feelings towards her father that Trent does. I have to say, the age difference between Trent and Edie had me scratching my head because I just couldn’t see it, but as I read and both characters were developed through the story I found out that both characters had much to offer one another. Although they were both extremely unavailable, they had a lot to offer one another. It had a certain shock factor, but it worked for the story. I couldn’t see Trent ever love anyone else, and for the sake of his daughter Edie was the perfect role model for his daughter. She was strong, independent, and intelligent.

If you enjoy drama, this one is full of it. The twists I didn’t see coming, and I totally mean that. I had no clue that the story would unfold like it did. It was something that made me think, wow, she (L.J. Shen) is quite the storyteller. She can really weave an incredible story, from beginning to end.

If you love some angst, humor, and a great book, well, then I would say this is the perfect one fore you. Start at the beginning, middle, or even the end. It will all just blow you away.

L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat.

Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards.

She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.
