From New York Times bestselling author, Kristen Ashley, comes the long-awaited story of Daisy and Marcus, Rock Chick Reawakening.

A prequel to Kristen’s Rock Chick series, Rock Chick Reawakening shares the tale of the devastating event that nearly broke Daisy, an event that set Marcus Sloane—one of Denver’s most respected businessmen and one of the Denver underground’s most feared crime bosses—into finally making his move to win the heart of the woman who stole his.

Natalie’s 4.5 Star Review

“A dream,” she murmured.
“You. You’re the dream a girl like me never thought she could dream.”

As side-characters go, Daisy and Marcus have been a long time favorite. Between Daisy’s vibrant personality and Marcus’ mysterious one, you cant help but look forward to the little glimpses you get of them in the Rock Chick series. Even without knowing a great deal about them I have come to love this unlikely couple.

Daisy has always been that feisty, down to earth; speak her mind, take-no-shit-but-sweet-as-pie kind of woman. She added comic relief and sassiness at all the right times. As an ex-stripper, her rhinestones, exaggerated breast size and love of high-heeled platform shoes made her almost a cliché but, it has always been clear that Daisy is as smart as she is loyal.

Marcus has always been the handsome, aloof criminal. Deeply devoted to Daisy, always at her side even through all the crazy stunts she pulls but, how that came to be was unknown until now.

In 1001 Dark Nights – Rock Chick Reawakening we get to see the origins of their love story. We find out how Daisy came to be Daisy and how Marcus came to love all that she is and vise versa.

I couldn’t have asked for a better backstory. Kristen Ashley has yet again given me everything I didn’t even know I wanted. Marcus and Daisy’s story was perfect and so much more beautiful and emotional than I ever expected it could be. The struggles, the devastation and the beauty that conquers it all – that’s what Rock Chick Reawakening is all about.

For any fan of Kristen Ashely or even just fans of good books, this is a must read for sure!

Julie’s 5 Star Review

My inner rock chick has been reawakened!

I am a huge fan of the Rock Chick series and Kristen Ashley’s books in general. There is just something about the way that Kristen Ashley brings us into a world where alpha males reign supreme, good guys win, women get to be themselves and have their dreams come true. Its magic and Rock Chick Reawakening did not deviate from this, it took it and ran, and I loved it!

Daisy has had a rough life. She has faced many hardships and hard people that tried to tear her down and make her feel unworthy. She had a crap mom, no dad, and the odds were stacked against her. She was shown kindness by a couple special people and that little bit of kindness was what she focused on, what she let consume her thoughts and what she chose to let drive her out of town the first chance she had.

Stripping and rocking the hell out of her headlining act, Daisy had come to appreciate her lot in life, even if her lot in life isn’t good enough for Marcus Sloan, the hot badass who is a mostly silent partner of the club she dances in. She’s got a good job plenty of money, and she is happy enough. That is until she is faced with a life changing event. Demons she thought were long buried come creeping back to the surface. She wonders if the people who tried to tear her down had it right all along and these thoughts are waging their war trying to defeat her.

Marcus has had his sight set on Daisy for a while. He wants nothing more than to be there for her. He knows he has to start slow and be patient. He won’t give up and he won’t back down. Even when he gives her time and space, he’s there in his way. Daisy and Marcus are an amazing couple. Their friendship, chemistry and love for each other is strong and heartwarming. The things that Marcus does for her and is willing to do for her are so sweet, even when they are illegal.

Rock Chick Reawakened is a much shorter version of the Kristen Ashley stories that we are used to. I was surprised that even though I didn’t want the story to be over, I didn’t feel at all like I missed out on anything due to length. Don’t get me wrong, I would have read 1000 more pages of Daisy and Marcus but it wasn’t rushed, or incomplete in any way.

5 stars for Daisy and Marcus and I can’t wait until the next KA book to come out.

“You, thinkin’ I’d have a problem with you bein’ Marcus Sloan,” I expanded.

“Do you know who I am?”

“Nope.” I shrugged. “Don’t care either. Though, that’s to say ‘nope’ don’t mean that I don’t know. I just don’t really know. I still don’t care. And that’s not why I don’t wanna have dinner with you.”

“I’m still not understanding.”

“Honey bunch, I’m a stripper.”

“Yes. And?”

I shut up.

Dear God, he thought I thought I was better than him.

He thought I thought I had reason to think I was better than him.

“I don’t judge,” I said quietly. “Life’s life and a person’s gotta do what they feel they gotta do to get along in it.”

“This is correct.”

“So I don’t care what you do or who you are.”

“And this delights me.”

My heart started racing because it did. It delighted him.

And I knew this because his eyes were again twinkling.

“Men are a**holes,” I shared.

“Some of them are, yes,” he somewhat agreed.

“Not met many who aren’t. My count, all my life, that number equals two.”

Those twinkling eyes stopped twinkling in order to flash.

“Just two?”

“Yup. Two,” I confirmed.

“Although I find that knowledge upsetting, I’ll share I’d like to make that three,” he told me something I already (mostly) got.

About Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
