Love isn’t always bright and shiny.

Sometimes, it’s dirty and wrong, buried six feet deep in a secret place where only wild things dare to go. Hidden behind a big black curtain that covers things no one should ever see.

Sometimes it happens between two people who should never be allowed to come together. One who is a match, and the other who just happens to be gasoline.

One strike is all it takes to burn the whole world down, and that’s exactly what they plan on doing.

Even if it kills them.

Warning: this book contains graphic sex, extremely brutal violence, bad language, and people repeatedly and knowingly breaking the law.

Meagan’s 4 Star Review

This book scratched an itch I didn’t know I had. I was in a rut, reading lots of books but nothing stood out. Then I started The Bad Ones. It took one chapter for me to be completely hooked. This book is unlike anything I’ve read before. The characters are unapologetic sociopaths that continually take it to frightening levels of insanity.

“Can I ask a question?”

“Go for it.”

“Why did you set someone’s car on fire?”

She thought maybe it would rattle him –her thinking he’d actually done it. But of course it didn’t. He chuckled, and she was treated to a patented Masters grin. It started at one corner of his mouth and eventually moved to the opposite corner, slowly revealing perfect white teeth and a razor sharp smile. He leaned close to her, and as his lips pressed against her ear, she could’ve sworn the temperature dropped.

Because I thought it would be fun.”

Have you ever heard the saying, like attracts like? Well, that is exactly what happened to Dulcie and Constantine. They lived in the same small town, went to the same school, but never had much to do with one another until a chance meeting creates a bond neither of them can deny. Theirs is a relationship of raw emotion and obsessive love. They not only consume each other but everyone around them. There’s murder and sex and addiction and revenge and everything in between. I loved it.

I wanted to give this book five stars, for the first 90% it was a no brainer, but the end gave me pause. Maybe it’s because the book is so screwed up and awesome that no matter how it ended it I would have been disappointed. I guess Constantine and Dulcie rubbed off on me because I wanted a more depraved ending. Something truly twisted that would have left me with my jaw hanging open. Instead, things tied up too neatly for me. It wasn’t exactly a Disney happily ever after, but it wasn’t what I was expecting for such screwed up characters.

Their kisses were brutal, full of teeth and biting. Their fingers were mean, scratching over soft flesh and leaving marks. He held her down, wanted to push her through the table. She kept talking, kept reminding him of how awful he was, and he put his hand over her mouth. Not because he didn’t want to hear it, but because it was turning him on.

I know many readers are classifying this as a dark romance, but to me a dark romance is human trafficking or intense BDSM. This book is off kilter in a different way, it’s twisted and crude, in fact, you could more aptly describe this book as seriously f*cked up but in the most delicious way. Dulcie and Constantine aren’t just into weird sex stuff or dabble in drugs; they’re unredeemable characters that you for some reason find yourself rooting for.

“We’re going to kill each other, aren’t we?” she whispered.

“Baby …” he sighed, his eyes fluttering shut as he moved to rest his forehead against her. “What a beautiful thing to say.”

I’ve never read a book by Stylo Fantome before The Bad Ones and boy do I feel like an idiot. I’m getting my one-click finger ready and logging on to Amazon as soon as I’m done writing this review. I’m excited to binge on one of my new favorite authors.

About The Author

Facebook | Twitter | AmazonGoodreads

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
