Rachel Miller had love, life and happiness . . . until she didn’t.

Uncertain of how to cope and move on without him, Rachel’s life comes to halt as she mourns the loss of her fiance Ben. Then one night she discovers it doesn’t have to.

By way of dreams, Rachel and Ben continue to live the life they had planned together. It’s unconventional, it’s not even real, but it’s enough for Rachel. For the first time since Ben’s death, she’s happy…whole. That is until she runs into someone she barely knew from years ago and suddenly real life is just as great as her dream one.

Now Rachel doesn’t know what to do. Will letting someone new in threaten what she has with Ben? Or will their love story threaten her new happiness? Is it crazy to chase after a ghost while being caught up by someone very real?

Meagan’s 4.5  Star Review

We get a lot of requests to review books, and I mean a lot. And while it kills my heart a little, we can’t review every book that comes across our desk. That’s why I’m so excited that the stars aligned and I found Caroline Nolan’s book on my Kindle. Not only was I was blown away by the romance of This is Love, but I also couldn’t believe this was Nolan’s debut novel.

I’m having an affair. But it’s who I’m cheating on I can’t figure out.

After reading the synopsis, I was gearing up for a little paranormal romance. It reminded me of a book I had recently read where after Adonis was killed Aphrodite could meet him in her dreams in Elysium. Surprisingly, the way Rachel meets Ben in her dreams is nothing like I imagined. It was more of a dream Rachel sometimes had, but nothing she could conjure up at will. It sounds odd, but I fell for Ben, Rachel’s dead fiancé, big time. I never know a dead guy could be so romantic, but Ben packed some serious swoon!

When he pulls back, his lips find their way lower, to my neck, then the curve of my shoulder. I feel his lips move against my skin as he speaks.
“You made my life worth it.”

Many of the books are categorized as romance but tend to lean more towards the erotic. This is Love was a breath of fresh air. This book is truly for the romance fans out there. Of course, there is some heat, but nothing compared to the pages of sexual interactions many books now feature. I appreciated how Nolan focused on building Rachel’s relationship with Jax, her reluctant love interest, instead of just focusing on how fast he could get her into bed.

“I’m wild for you,” he meets my eyes. “I need you to know that.”

Jax, wow. I’m not sure the last time I read a book where I loved not one, but two of the heroine’s love interests. Jax was exactly the kind of man Rachel needed to meet after dealing with the loss of Ben. Jax was . . . hmmm, how can I explain him, I guess you could say he was a gentle force of nature. Jax knew Rachel was the one for him, and he perused her with determination, but he also knew Rachel needed time to learn to love again, and he gave her the space she needed. He was aggressive in a quiet, but steady way if that makes sense.

“This was not a mistake. I know what this is! You know what this is!” There is determination in his eyes when he looks back at me. “This is love, Rachel. We are falling in love,”

I can’t say enough about This is Love. There were a few problem areas but as Nolan’s first book I was extremely impressed with her writing. I can only imagine she’ll continue to grow as a writer as she moves on and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.
