Blurb

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward—full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from… But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can’t ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her—the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants…

“S” is for Silver Valley…

Northern Idaho – where I live, and where my books are set – was built on mining, and the mining towns in the mountain surrounding Coeur d’Alene have always been fascinating to me. We first started seriously visiting the Silver Valley area about sixteen years ago. I’d been there as a child, but as an adult I started to study the history and culture of the area. I’ve always thought it was the perfect setting for romance books (especially books like mine) because there’s a sense of gritty darkness about everything in the valley.

Don’t get me wrong—it’s stunningly beautiful. But the history of the Silver Valley is just incredibly intense. There was a gold rush here in the late 1800s, and with the miners came prostitutes, preachers, con men and the future mine owners who would shape the area’s history. They were all fighting for their piece of what would become one of the top ten mining districts in world history, and with billions of dollars at stake, things got ugly.

There were a series of mining wars between unions and mine owners which I’ve drawn upon heavily in my series. This grew so intense that in 1905 the former governor of Idaho was assassinated in his own home, and a federal occupation force was sent to take over the valley.

While much of this happened in the past, the valley is still imbued with the history, tension and sense of intense drama that makes it perfect for a romance writer. I feel the same way about the mining communities and culture that I did when I first learned about motorcycle clubs – they’re the perfect setting for a story, with all the conflict and excitement any writer could hope for.

SILVER BASTARD is still an MC book – Puck is a hot biker, the club is still at the center of the story and you’ll see the Reapers riding to the rescue… but I also see it as the start of something new, perhaps more rich and exciting that the Couer d’Alene setting ever could be. I’m so excited to be sharing it with my readers. Here’s a little excerpt highlighting how I integrated the valley’s history into my story:

“Your apartment used to be part of a whorehouse,” Danielle said casually.

“I know. Regina told me about it.”

“Did you know the girls liked to come out here to eat their meals? They wouldn’t let them out to walk around town or anything.”

“Really?” I asked, intrigued. “I thought it was anything goes back in the mining days. Seems weird that the hookers wouldn’t be allowed outside.”

Blake snorted.

“It didn’t shut down until 1988,” he said. My eyes widened. “Seriously?” He nodded, taking a swig from his bottle.

“Yup, my dad used to come here,” he said. “Mom dumped his ass over it, I shit you not. There was one in the building on the other side, too.”
