Synopsis

Cage fighting always came first for him…
Ian’s life is full of sacrifice. His intense training schedule means brutal workouts, no drinking, and worst of all, no pussy. But it’s all worth it because he’s about to go pro. When a tempting young nurse starts working at his gym, he can’t escape the dirty desires clouding his mind, and it’s driving him crazy. He’d love a taste, but he needs his focus now more than ever.

She’s kept her heart on maximum-security lockdown…
Growing up in foster care, MacKenzie learned early on that love was something other people experienced, something she’d seen but never felt. When she meets sexy cage fighter, Ian, she expects nothing more than a one-night stand, but he walks away before they seal the deal. Now she’d like to forget the night they almost hooked up. But she’s just taken a job working at his gym, and despite her efforts to move on, his allure is overpowering. When Ian gets injured, they begin working together on his rehabilitation, and their one-on-one physical therapy sessions are so hot they sizzle, leaving them both desperate for more contact.
The battle for their love is about to become a fight to the finish.

Christina’s 3 1/2 Star Review

MacKenzie has taken care of herself nearly her entire life. A product of the foster care system, she has difficulty establishing trust. When she loses her job as a nurse, she’s left wondering where to go from there, but her best friend Alexa’s boyfriend Cade calls in a favor to the owner of his local gym and manages to secure her a position as the gym’s nurse/physical therapist. It starts out as a dream job as she spends most of her day on the treadmill, watching the sweaty, often shirtless fighters work out.

Ian is a trust fund kid who chooses to make his living as an MMA fighter. He’s used to the finer things in life and spends most of his days in the gym, preparing for his big break. When he is training, he has a laser focus. He doesn’t let drugs, alcohol, or women get in the way until he meets Kenzie, the new nurse at the gym he works out at.

When Ian suffers an injury before a big fight that could make or break his career, Kenzie works with him one on one as his physical therapist to get him back in fighting shape. After spending more and more time together, they find the attraction is too much to fight, but Kenzie is already in a relationship with someone else…Ian’s friend and owner of the gym, Chris. But Kenzie is afraid that Chris may have some ulterior motives when it comes to their relationship, just how much is Kenzie willing to put on the line in order to be with Ian?

While I did enjoy the story, the plot was slightly predictable and Ian’s descriptions of Kenzie became redundant. We get it; she has nice T&A, enough already. There’s no need to describe her assets again and again; it became distracting. I also had trouble connecting with both of the characters and wasn’t particularly moved by their relationship. There just didn’t seem to be more than a surface connection and I would like to have felt a little more intimacy between the two.

While Reckless Love is the second book in the series, it is not necessary to have read the first book, Hard To Love. Three and a half stars.
