Losers Weepers by Nicole Williams

Title: Losers Weepers (Lost and Found #4)

Author: Nicole Williams

Publication Date: February 24, 2015

If we didn’t know darkness, we couldn’t fully appreciate the light

Garth Black’s more familiar with this concept than most people are. He hadn’t just lived in the dark for the majority of his life—he thrived in it. With a mom who’d bailed on him and a dad whose understanding of coddling started and ended with a bottle of whiskey, Garth had never been expected to rise to any sort of occasion other than following down the same dead-end paths.

That changed when he fell in love with Josie Gibson. After years of pulling each other closer before shoving the other way, they finally stopped shoving. Josie’s love is like nothing Garth’s ever experienced. He holds it close. He holds it sacred. He would do anything to preserve it and keep it from pollution, even if that means removing himself from the picture.

Garth might have been allowed a temporary furlough to bask in the light, but that pass has been revoked, and he’s been swallowed again by the dark. Will he revert to his old ways of hurting those he cares for most? Will he go back to the same destructive patterns . . . or will it be worse this time?

We can’t know light without first knowing dark . . . and Garth Black’s about to get acquainted with the dark in a whole new way.

Meagan’s 4 Star Review

This is a hard review to write because the story revolves around a pivotal moment that takes place in the first chapter. While I’ll try my hardest to not spoil anything for you, if you’re a fan of Garth and Josie I’d recommend going in blind. I promise you’ll enjoy story and you’ll get to discover all the surprises Losers and Weepers has to offer on your own.

The life of a cowboy can be grueling, add in bull riding and you have a whole ‘nother layer of punishment. While I love the sweet, sensitive cowboy Jesse, Garth Black, the epitome of tall dark and handsome, appeals to the bad girl in me. He’s exactly who you’re mama and all those country songs warned you about. He’s brooding, rough around the edges, and is quickly making a name for himself in the bull riding circuit. He’s finally got the girl of his dreams and his life ain’t looking too bad. But nothing in Garth’s life has ever come easy and soon he finds himself facing obstacles he never could have imaged.

How could one moment, one flash in time, be responsible for changing my whole existence.

I enjoyed this book much more than Finders Keepers. That doesn’t mean I didn’t like the first book featuring Garth and Josie, I just felt that their story was so much more than we were given. Losers Weepers gave me what I was missing. Garth was an asshole, but he had a method to his madness. His love for Josie was obviously the most important part of him and he was going to protect her even if that meant protecting her from himself. I really feel like we get a better idea of who Garth is in this book. I also really enjoyed seeing more of Josie. Her strength and love for Garth was truly amazing. I liked Josie before but she really blew me away in this time around.

You don’t throw away the love of a lifetime because someone _______ – that’s when you prove what your love’s really made of.

A big bonus of Losers Weepers is we get to see more of Jesse and Rowen. There are some pretty big developments in their story and I don’t see how we won’t be getting another book to deal with their struggles. I like that the author makes the hardships these couples deal with feel real. It makes it easy to connect with the characters. I’m so glad Garth and Josie’s story didn’t end with Finders Keepers. This book really did them justice. It’s a beautiful story that shows when you really, really love someone you don’t pick and choose which parts of them or how. You love all of them unconditionally no matter what circumstances.

I kissed her again, this time a bit more softly, almost sweetly. When I ended it, she looked as surprised as I did that I was capable of such a kiss. “I love you, Josie Gibson.”

Her smile stretched. “I can guarantee not as fucking much as I love you.”
