Synopsis

‘A thrilling and delicious story of love and self-discovery woven around a broken romance that will make you turn page after page and cheer to the end.’

Love, life, loyalties. Nothing stays the same when Emily gets drawn into the world of rock.

Glossy and sophisticated professional high-flyer Emily has no time for nonsense such as the rock music her ex-boyfriend Nate adored so much. Yet when she unexpectedly comes into possession of VIP tickets—access all areas—for new rock band phenomenon, MonX, she can’t resist the temptation.

The fateful gig turns into more than one night, and Emily finds herself strangely drawn to this new and unfamiliar glittery world. However, only weeks later, MonX and her own universe fall apart with devastating consequences for all. When MonX lead singer Mike appeals for her help, she reluctantly embraces a new opportunity. But she soon discovers that while she may be a rock chick after all, a groupie she is not… Or is she?

Just exactly where do her loyalties lie? And what direction will her life take now that she’s left behind everything she treasured?

Warning! Fallen For Rock contains some explicit content and strong language that may not be suitable for readers under eighteen years of age.

Rachel’s Review – 5 Stars

Yay! Another brilliantly written Rock Star read from Author Nicky Wells! Nicky takes us on a very British journey of love, loss, fun and self-discovery all wrapped up in a fabulous Rock Star package.

I adored work-a-holic Emily and her ‘never give up’, driven attitude and admired the way she threw caution to the wind to do something out of the ordinary for her, changing her life’s path after her perfectly planned life came crashing down on her.

Sexy Mike, lead singer and guitarist of MonX was a temperamental Rock Star but I loved him. He and Emily brought out the best in each other and it was fun to watch. I certainly wouldn’t say no to a game of shots with that man!

“Emily…” Mike’s voice was hoarse.
“Mike.” Mine was breathy. Mike loomed tall and powerful above me, his liquid eyes swimming in and out of focus, his breath warm on my skin. He raised himself up on his elbows and held me in his gaze.
“Emily,” he repeated, now with a distinct tremor. “I..I didn’t mean to…I didn’t come here to…”

We are treated to a great insight into the life of a touring band and the process of building a new one from scratch, all with a bit of humour, a lot of hard work and a very British stiff upper lip!

Mike raised his eyebrows but obliged. “Emily what goes on tour, stays on tour.”
“No holds barred?”
“Whatever rocks your world.”

You will laugh out loud, groan at Emily’s mishaps, fan yourself at the HOT sex and want to find your very own sexy musician! Fallen for Rock was like a breath of fresh air after a run of dark reads and I loved it! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a light, uplifting read, you will not be disappointed. While you’re at it, I also recommend you add her Rock Star Romance Series to your tbr too, seriously, everything Nicky writes is awesome!!

Rachel Interviews Author Nicky Wells

Hi Nicky. As you know I’m a huge fan of your books and enjoy chatting to you via your Facebook Author page, but to anyone just discovering you would you tell us a little about yourself?

Hi Rachel! *waves* It’s so good to be here today, and thanks for inviting me to visit. Yes I know you’re a huge fan, and I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be able to connect with you and everyone else via Facebook and Twitter. Thank you for all your support and enthusiasm, that totally makes my writing world go round. Totally. Now, where was I? Oh yes. You wanted to know about me. Right. So.

I have an incurable ‘thing’ for rock musicians. I can’t help it. They just ‘do it’ for me. Red rag to a bull is nothing like a rock star is to Nicky Wells! (My lovely husband is quite indulgent of this affliction of mine, bless him. We even had a rock band we know play at our wedding, but that’s a story for a different day.). That’s why I write the books I do. Particular faves include Jon Bon Jovi and Joey Tempest. I’ve recently discovered Myles Kennedy too! Bad boys and golden voices, tough men with long hair and soft hearts…. *swoon*

When I’m not lusting after rock stars or writing books of young women who lust after rock stars, I’m a wife, a mother of two boys, a lobster eater and pizza lover, a cook, a trained teaching assistant, an occasional knitter, and a radio presenter at Siren 107.3 FM. I’ve got my own show now, too, which is called Books Rock!, and airs at 11 am on every third Saturday. Just saying!

There. I think that’s probably enough about me!

Your books all contain Rock Stars and Rock Bands. How do you know so much about the Rock world and who or what inspires your writing?

Great question. Partly my knowledge stems from a lifelong fascination with rock bands. I’ve been to many, many gigs, some big, some small, some of very well-known bands, some of lesser-known bands, some in front of the stage and a few also behind the scenes. I watch and learn and absorb the atmosphere like a sponge. That’s the first-hand experience which influences and colours my books, and nothing trumps first-hand experience. (This is also a jolly good excuse to keep going to more rock concerts—all in the name of research, of course!)

Evidently, I’ve watched almost every rock movie there is and read my fair share of rock magazines and rock star autobiographies. And last but not least, both my fabulous publicist, Cameron Tilbury, and the amazing Jane Risdon (who’s married to a rock star although I have yet to tease out of her who he is!!) have been fantastic sources of insight and knowledge, especially when it comes to things like recording studios and acoustics.

bon jovi

When you are writing, do you use music to help your thought process or do you need peace and quiet?

Ah. Well. You could be forgiven for thinking that I have the music cranked up very loudly indeed while I write, but you might be surprised to learn that I don’t. You see, particular songs and albums carry a particular mood for me, and that mood might change from song to song, which I find very distracting. So as a general rule, I write to silence.

However, when I take breaks, I’ve been known to turn the music up full throttle to clear my brain and get the creative juices flowing. Also, occasionally a song will serve to inspire a scene or chapter, and then I do tend to put it on ‘repeat’ while I write.

Being a Rock Chick you must have a fantastic playlist on your iPod. Can you tell us some of your favourite Rock songs?

Ha! I do have a playlist, but I don’t have an iPod. As far as music consumption goes, I’m still in the 20th century. I have a very old and very trusted stereo system with fabulously big speakers, and I will use that thing until it blows up. (Please, God, don’t let that day come tomorrow!). But here’s a few of my favourites, in no particular order:

Living On A Prayer (Bon Jovi); Enter Sandman (Metallica); Rock The Night (Europe); Hells Bells (AC/DC); Jump (Van Halen); Here I Go Again (Whitesnake); Rock Star (Nickelback); Tough It Out (FM); Cold As Ice (Foreigner); Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen); We Will Rock You (Queen); Runaway (Bon Jovi); Wake Me up When September Ends (Greenday); Who Will You Run To (Heart); Bring me to life (Evanescence); Sweet Child o’ Mine (Guns ‘n’ Roses); Stairway To Heaven (Led Zeppelin); Nothing Else Matters (Metallica); Other Side Of Midnight (FM).

Shall I go on? Because it might take a few hours…

What do you like to do to relax when you aren’t writing or presenting your radio show?

Bubble baths. Playing with the kids. Wine, crisps and dips. Long walks. Knitting. Cooking (as long as somebody else tidies up). Walking on the beach collecting sea shells.

Can you give us any teasers about what we can next expect from you? Is there another Rock Star book in the making?

Lol, just one? I’ve got three in the queue, and that’s just the ones that have reached the planning stage! But for now, here’s the blurb of my Christmas novella, which is fully written and due for release in October or November 2014. While it is a sequel to last year’s ‘Spirits of Christmas’, it is also very much designed to be read as a standalone.

Fairy Tale in New York

When rock star Jude gets stranded in New York with his family on Christmas Eve, he has no idea that he is setting in motion a chain of events that will turn their Christmas into the most magical one yet…

No good deed goes unpunished, or so it seems to Jude and Carrie on the morning of the twenty-fourth of December. The previous day, they gave up their return flights to London to enable a distressed passenger to make a swift journey home in their stead. Today a spectacular whiteout is grounding all planes, and Jude, Carrie and baby Maya are stuck.

Tired, hungry and just a little panicked, Jude loads his family into a cab and returns to their hotel. But their room has been let, and the hotel is fully booked. Snow is falling heavily, and the family is facing a very bleak night indeed.

How do you celebrate Christmas far from home, with no place to stay, no food, and no presents? Join Jude, Carrie and Maya and a cast of colourful characters in this fairy tale story of Yuletide in New York

Thanks for taking the time to speak with me Nicky. Congratulations on the release of Fallen for Rock!!

Thanks again for inviting me Rachel, it’s been a pleasure and an honour. And thanks so much for your fabulous kind words too. You rock! Mwah!
