Review: Blissful Surrender by B.J. Harvey

reviewtour_banner_BJ Harvey

This is a story of Sean Miller, a dom that will have your panties diving for cover with an eyebrow quirk. That will have even the strongest woman dropping to their knees in submission with a piercing stare, and Samantha Richards, a female cop who’s tough, seemingly impenetrable shell is strong enough to resist everyone except the one man it was build up to protect her against.

**Disclaimer – If you thought the first two Bliss books were hot, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Creative use of handcuffs, batons, a club scene you have to read to believe, and a tough as nails dominant who is blindsided when the one woman strong enough to disarm him threatens his resolve not to let his past dictate his future.**

Like the other books in the Bliss series, this book can be read as a stand alone. There are common characters in the books but it is not necessary to read the first two books in the series to read this one.

Meagan’s Review – 4 Stars

Of the three men in the Bliss Series (Zander, Sean, and Noah) I was the least interested in Sean. Even though he was dominant in the bedroom, I never really got a thrill when he and Mac were together. I was always rooting for someone else. But reading Blissful Surrender gave me a whole new outlook. Sean just may be my new favorite man in the Bliss Series (Okay, that’s a flat out lie, it’s totally Zander, but Sean’s a close second).

The first thing I loved about this story is that Sean and Samantha had a history. The two had met previously in college and fell hard. But meddling mothers and rash decisions leave Sean and Sam alone and broken hearted. Now, ten years later, Sean’s brother, Ryan is in trouble and Sam finds herself back in Sean’s life.

“The very man who marked me all those years ago. The man who has the power to bring me to my knees, in all ways possible.”

After college Sam joined the Chicago police department. She’s had a few odd relationships, but no one can compare to what she felt when she was with Sean. Definitely not what she felt with Sean in the bedroom. When he comes back into her life, Sam is set against a relationship with him. It was actually perplexing as to why she wouldn’t want to be with a man who, so obviously, was her perfect match. But Sam needed to work through her own issues before she could be truthful with herself and admit she needed Sean.

Sean has never stopped wondering what happened to Sam. She left him when he needed her most and he would do anything to have her back. To him the problems he and Sammy had could be easily conquered.

“This time, it’s for keeps. This time, I’m not letting anything come between us”

What drew me to Sean was that he wasn’t afraid of how he felt. There were no games. He was honest with Sam about how much she had hurt him. How much it would kill him if she would leave again. He adored her strong will and attitude. That such a resilient woman would allow him to dominate her in the bedroom was a gift. Sean wanted to give Sam as much pleasure as possible in all aspect of her life and wow, did he succeed. He wasn’t an alpha asshole pretending to want what was best for her. Sean knew how to give Sam as much pleasure as possible while getting what he needed as well.

“Close your eyes. I want you to feel everything. My hard cock stroking inside you, my wet mouth on your skin, my sweaty body rubbing against yours. Feel me, Sammy. Feel everything and give it back to me.”

This story surprised me in more ways than one. Sean was a brilliant character. I loved that just because he was dominant didn’t mean he couldn’t say sorry. The dinner party with Zander was awesome. With equal parts giggling, nervousness and wide-eyed horror, even I felt embarrassed about the situation. I also adored that Sam was compliant in the bedroom but wouldn’t compromise her morals when it came to her job. Their relationship was different in the best way possible. I was constantly surprised at how mature the characters could be while never turning down the heat. It is a hard combination to achieve and I highly applaud BJ Harvey at finding the right mix.

The latest novel in the Bliss Series didn’t disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. I never thought I could fall so hard for Sean. He’s absolutely on my list for top book boyfriends of the year. Combine Sean with Sam, a woman who can bend in the bedroom but stand on her own when needed and you have the perfect mix of sexy and strong. Just the right amount of bliss to get me through till we meet the next man in the Bliss Series the walking dildo, I mean Noah.
