Blog Tour – Wish I May by Lexi Ryan

WishIMay Amazon GR SW

I grew up wishing on stars.

My father taught me to believe…in destiny, in magic, in happily ever after. Dreams were my scripture and the starry night sky was my temple. Then Mom stopped believing, left him, and took us with her. At the age of sixteen, I cashed in my dreams to pay the rent, pawned my destiny to keep my sisters together.

Now, seven years later, I’m returning home, grieving the death of my mother, and settling my sisters back into the life Mom threw away. I never intended to stay. I don’t want to deal with my father, who is so invested in the spiritual world he forgets the physical. I don’t want to face William Bailey, whose eyes remind me of the girl I was, the things I’ve done, and the future I lost

This would all be easier if Will hated me. As it is, I have to hold my secrets close so they won’t hurt him more than they’ve already hurt me. But he wants to be in my life. He wants what I can’t bring myself to confess I sold. He wants me.

I find myself looking to my stars again…wondering if I dare one more wish.

Natalie’s Review – 4.5 Stars

I’m going to be honest with you, the first time I met Will in Unbreak Me I thought he was a total douche. What kind of man thinks it is ok to marry your ex-fiances sister? But then, as the book progressed I saw the man behind the douche. The one who wanted nothing more than to protect and “fix” those he loved. By the end of Unbreak Me all I wanted was for Will to find his own happily ever after. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Lexi Ryan was writing his story. And let me tell you, Will does not disappoint in Wish I May. He is everything I first fell in love with and so much more.

Will and Cally are high school sweethearts who find their first loves in each other. Heartbroken when Cally is forced to move to Vegas with her mother and sisters, she promises Will that she will be back for prom. When she doesn’t return and stops answering Wills calls he is devestaed. What happened? Why didn’t she come back? I think both Will and I were going a little crazy trying to figure this one out.

Fast forward 7 years and Cally is now back in town after the death of her mother to bring her younger sisters to her father. An unexpected run in with Will  brings all of those old  feeling back but Cally as you can imagine has secrets and her secrets can’t stay buried for long. Her time apart from Will was not a easy one and tough decisions had to be made.

“After seven years. After the lamest breakup in the history of breakups. After breaking his heart and dismissing my own, I’m still very much his.”

Wish I May goes back and forth between the past and the present to tell the story of Will and Cally. I absolutely love this type of writing. I loved being able to get to see how the their relationship started, the sweet and tender Will and the shy and innocent Cally.  Then the aftermath when the relationship ends, the angry and confused Will, the desperate and broken Cally. To finally when both characters come back together to work through all of those past feeling to find a way to forgive and fall in love all over again. Just writing and thinking about Will and Cally makes me small all over again.

“You’d be amazed what William Bailey can forgive.”

As you can imagine I loved Will, he wears his heart on his sleeve and I don’t think he could stay mad at anyone even if he tried. He loves Cally unconditionally even with her checked past. Cally wasn’t half bd herself. She had a pretty shitty life and when she left Will things just went from bad to worse. I applaud her maturity and her dedication to her sisters, willing to do whatever it takes to keep a room over their head and food on the table. I was desperate to find out her secret and while parts of it I was able to figure out fairly quickly there was a definite twist I didn’t see coming and theta added some juicy drama that I just loved 😉

Author Lexi Ryan is a great story teller and is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Her characters are down to earth and feel real, her words flow easily off the page and it is so easy to become hooked on every line she writes. She is also really good at making me cry too. If you haven’t read one of her books I would definitely encourage you to give one a try and then let me know what you thought 🙂 Happy Reading!

“I want you to always believe you deserve whatever you can wish for, Cally. As long as you’ll let me, I’ll make your wishes come true.”
