Book Description

There’s optimistic. And there’s Jesse Walker.

If he wasn’t so charming, his sunny disposition and incessant grin would get old. Fast.

Falling in love with the girl who had at first seemed immune to it, was the best thing to happen to Jesse since the Walkers adopted him into their family when he was five. But loving the girl who has her fair share of secrets is about as easy as that same girl loving the boy who seems to have none.

As Jesse’s life continues at the ranch, and Rowen begins making her mark in the Seattle art community, they begin to wonder where the middle ground is. Or if there even is one.

As push comes to shove and choices aren’t only needing to be made, but forced to be made, Jesse and Rowen have to face what their lives might look like without the other.

Can two people with such tragic pasts and different presents, go on to expect a promising future? Whatever the answer, they’ll need a lot more than love to make it.

 Meagan’s Review – 4 Stars

After reading Lost & Found by Nicole Williams, I didn’t think I could love Jesse Walker anymore. I should have known. I just finished Near & Far, and I am head over freakin’ heels in love with Jesse Walker all over again.

Whereas Jesse and Rowen fell in love in Lost & FoundNear & Far is all about them trying to keep that love close, and I mean that metaphorically as well as in the literal sense. Rowen has started college back in Seattle, while Jesse is still working at his parents ranch in Montana. The space between them is of course an issue, but nothing they can’t deal with, . . . or at least it is for a while.

I’ve read a lot of books lately where the heroine is the one with self-esteem issues, the one who thinks they’re unworthy of love. But in Near & Far, Jesse is the one who starts to struggle with his self-worth. I loved the way Williams made Jesse unsure of himself but at the same time, so certain of the way he felt about Rowan. Even when he was pushing Rowen away, he was doing it with some ridiculous idea that it was for her own good. The scene of Jesse’s breakdown is heartbreaking. It pulled on hidden emotions and made me ugly cry. It was beautiful and tragic all at once.

I also liked that even though both Jesse and Rowen had admirers, neither of them acted on it, in fact it wasn’t even an issue. It was so nice to have a story where the characters had a long distance relationship where cheating wasn’t part of the storyline. It just reiterated how much Jesse and Rowen valued their relationship.

Besides Jesse, my second favorite character has to be Garth. I love Rowen, but the dirty, bad boy Garth is just a force to be reckoned with.  I was so happy that he and Jesse seemed to be rekindling their friendship in this novel. And fingers crossed, but I really hope whatever is going on with Josie and Garth gets explored further in Garth’s book (which will be out this fall *happy dance*!).

I adored this story. Yes it made me cry, but it also put a ridiculous smile on my face just while I was typing up my review. I highly suggest this novel to anyone in need of a sweet and sexy cowboy, a good cry, or a HEA.

 About the Author

I’m the New York Times and USATODAY bestselling author of the LOST & FOUND series, the CRASH series, and a handful of others. Basically, I get to do what I love. Every single day. I write romance because I’m a sucker for a good love story, and I write happy endings because there are too few of them in real life.
