1,135,789. That’s how many subscribers sixteen-year-old West Ryder has on his web vlog series. But he only has eyes for one of them.

As one of the internet’s most prestigious video bloggers, West talks about high school relationships under the name “Sam Green.” As far as he knows, no one from school, not even his best friend, Cat, has seen his videos. But the highlight of the whole thing is Harper Knight, who comments every day at exactly 2:02 in the afternoon. He doesn’t know anything about her aside from the occasional deep philosophical messaging on why pizza tastes so delicious, but as stupid as it sounds, he might be falling for her. So when they finally agree to meet in real life, West’s hope for romance seems more and more in reach. But that all changes as soon as he arrives at their meeting spot and sees Cat walking toward him, wearing the same “I <3 Sam Green” T-shirt Harper promised she’d have on.

To his alarm, West realizes he is falling in love with the best friend who has always been a sister to him.

Natalie’s 4 Star Review

First love, I still remember mine. He was tall and lanky, with thick glasses and the worst case of acne I have ever seen on a person but boy oh boy could he make me laugh. I sometimes miss those carefree days of hanging out and laughing and being silly. I miss those butterflies in my stomach whenever I would see him, miss the awkward first kisses and touches, miss how my whole world revolved around that one boy. But then I remember how scary and confusing first love can be and thank my stars that I don’t have to go through that again. Author LM Augustine did a wonderful job in Click with describing these exact feelings and making them so believable and real that it really does bring you back to a younger time.

I loved the friendship between West and Cat, I loved their quirky conversations and silly behavior. They are teens after all so it was a great representation of their age. But what I also appreciated was how the author did know when it was time to be serious, and in those moments he was able to make you feel both Cat and West’s confusion and pain.

I loved Cat, she was so sure of herself and despite being only sixteen she knew exactly how she felt and what she wanted. She was funny and witty and strong. She is always there for her best friend with a shoulder to lean on or a vanilla ice cream cone for distraction. Cat is a great character role model for young girls and was such a pleasure to read.

Poor West he was so confused. Struggling with a difficult family life I felt badly for him but, when it came to his relationship with Cat I kinda did want to smack him around a few times just to knock some sense into him and make him see what is right in front of his face. But when he finally did see what he should have it was very sweet and endearing. My only wish for this book would be for the author to have had explored the relationship between West and his father a bit more especially at the end of the story. I am curious as to how things turned out between the two.

So if you are looking for a sweet and innocent, heartwarming YA story then Click to Subscribe is the book for you.
