There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

Meagan’s 4 Star Review

Nicole Williams is trying to kill me. Stop, do not laugh, this is not a joke. First bad boy Jude Ryder from the Crash Series, and in her new novel, Lost and Found, she introduces me to Jesse Walker? Oh, and did I mention Jesse’s a cowboy? A polite, easy on the eyes, tight pants wearing, blue eyes twinkling, horse riding cowboy! Ahhh! Too much! Okay, so maybe I can handle it, for you guys of course. Oh the things I do for our readers ; )

Jesse was perfect. He wasn’t some rough ridin’ stereotypical cowboy. He was a hard working, true to life portrayal of someone who grew up in the country. A cowboy not because he put on the hat, but because it’s just who he was. But not only was he a hardworking son, he was also the kindest soul you’ve ever met. He was kind because he had a beautiful heart, he didn’t have any ulterior motive. He was just humble, polite, and wonderful. Which was exactly what Rowan needed.

I so felt for Rowan. At the beginning of the story we find out she has been sent to Willow Springs Ranch as a sort of punishment by her mother. If Rowan can last the whole summer in Montana at the ranch her mother will pay for her to go to an expensive art school in the fall. I can’t find the words to explain Rowan. She wasn’t broken, she was so over broken. She knew that everyone saw her as some kind of goth, or emo, even a druggie or whore. But she didn’t care what others thought, she was just herself, a girl who had been screwed by life and had no other choice but to keep pushing forward.

The way Williams tells Jesse and Rowan’s story is fresh and uplifting. Something about her writing style pulls me in, in a way that’s hard to describe. Rowan’s character is angsty, yeah, but she’s also hopeful. The way Jesse slowly gains her trust by being a genuinely good person is absolutely swoonworthy. The tender way Jesse dealt with Rowan only made his anger towards anything he felt was hurting her that much more fierce. And oh sweet Jebus, when they finally do come together and Jesse loses control of some of that politeness. Dear God, lets just say I needed to take a few moments to gather myself.

The way Jesses dealt with Rowan’s mother was fantastic! I don’t want to ruin the story, but you know how most of the time the bad guy/girl redeems themselves in the end? Yeah, don’t hold your breath. I wanted to slap some freakin’ sense into Rowan’s mother. I can’t even fathom how she could put Rowan in some of those situations. And how in the hell did Jesse’s mother Rose, the most perfect mom in the world, ever get to be friends with Rowan’s mother from hell? Not to mention Jesse’s ex-best friend Gabe, the tall, dark, handsome devil. He was all kinds of trouble. Although, . . . I wouldn’t say no to seeing more of him (hint, hint Ms Williams).

I loved Jesse and Rowan’s story. It was so full of hope and brightness. If you’ve looking for backstabbing, whips and chains this isn’t the book for you. But if you want something kind and uplifting you’re going to love this story. Absolutely love it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go out and pick up my husband a cowboy hat. Hmmm, and maybe some Wranglers . . .
